Bacon: The simple answer is NO! That said you must pay a lot of attention to your blood sugar and make appropriate choices for the food you take and the physical activity you do. Check your blood sugar at least once a day - alternate breakfast reading on day 1 and at bedtime on day 2., etc. Also go on-line and look up "NuVal". It will help you with your diet.
