Sedation is not indicated for dental x-rays-much too risky for no benefit. Possibly, taking a mild sedative like 0.5mg ativan could be recommended but you cannot drive for several hours following the use of ativan. You will also need a doctor's prescription.

Some people die when they are put asleep. Ask Dentist for smaller x-ray thingies.

There are newer dental x-ray machines that you don't have to put a film in your mouth. Ask your dentist if they have a PANO x-ray unit , if not find a office that has one. All you do is stand up straight and the machine revolves around your head.

Not advisable. You have to bite on film holder to keep it properly positioned. Try taking 1 200mg Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) 1 hr before your appt. Another solution is to have a Cone Beam CAT Scan taken. Explain your problem to your Dentist.
