That pH should not make you sick. Furthermore, unless you had arterial blood gases done, i.e. pH by ABG, blood pH from a venous blood may not be accurate. Your doctor should figure out the reason why you are so sick but I want to assure you that the mild metabolic alkalosis, pH of 7.49, even if it's accurate, is not the cause. Taking too much antacid med can make the blood more alkaline.

Dont get hung up on medical terms and have the ordering doctor explain the results ofb your tests. Get the reflx treated and you will be fine
