Can abg blood test for checking metabolic alkalosis be done on one day...and treatment can b started in 2 .3 days afterwards?or does the treatment need to be done as soon as abg results are out?

rapidity of results depends on the lab. Metabolic alkalosis if suspected clinically should be treated immediately and adjusted when labs are available. It causes cardiovascular,resp. neuro symptoms. Mild form causes none and can easily be corrected . It seems that it is a 'fashionable' diag. in India as we have had several question on that diagnosis. If you are an out pt. dont worry.
