In general, Losartan is a good medication for the treatment of hypertension in patients with chronic kidney disease. However, it should be avoided in most acute kidney failure cases and it should be avoided in some unusual cases. Losartan may worsen hyperkalemia (high postassium) which is commonly seen in kidney disease. We, as kidney specialists, use Losartan a lot in daily practice.
