Hi dr my mom 89 yo as been on dializes for 6 months now doing very well.the only thing i realized is begining of dializes they were removing 1liter of water now they remove 2 !liters.is it normal or something i should worry about ?thanks?

They amount of water removed depends on how much she is drinking. The kidneys normally do this on there own. That is why you pee a lot when u drink lots of fluid. Discuss with her and her team. She is in control of how much of a fluid problem she will have. What goes in must be taken out or she will drown.

If she voids much less than 6 months ago then more fluid gain in between treatments. If that's the case, she needs to limit fluid intake significantly because 2 liter removal can be difficult for her body at 89. However, she might gain some weight after dialysis for a couple months then her TARGET WEIGHT needs to be increased so fluid removal will be less provided she is edema free with good BP.
