A member asked:

In your experience, did you learn more doing clinical/residency etc than school in general? is medical school for you essentially a baseline, and you have something to fall back to if you were confused about a case with all the information learned?

Both medical school and the clinical experience go hand in hand. One without the other is useless. Pay attention and learn from both and remember compassion is the key to being a good physician. Good luck!

I compiled, (I can't promise I learned) many, many facts, and formulae, and structures in the first two years of medical school. It was not the hardest thing I'd ever done. Moving into the clinical arena is moving from theory and textbooks, to practical use. You have a background fund of information, and you add to it daily with readings and literature searches to help you care for patients.
