You do not have kidney infection, i.e. pyelonephritis, because fever and chill are almost invariably present in this condition. Kidney stone can cause flank pain (renal colic) which usually radiates to the groin area. Any other structures in that area such as muscles, spines or visceral organs can cause flank pain as well. Depending on the physical exam and history we can pinpoint the cause.
