A member asked:

My husband had arterial clots removed surgically from his leg which is still numb 1 wk ago. his foot had turned purple after waiting 5.5 hrs for a surgeon. is the numbness normal after a week?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I assume there was nerve damage in the foot from blockage of blood flow to the lower leg. This can take weeks to months to resolve. The vascular surgeon can advise you best and decide whether a consultation with a neurologist would be worthwhile. If your husband was a smoker I hope he no longer is as it may accelerate resolution of the numbness if he stopped.
