A member asked:

Is nat hiv test really necessary after 3 months of last exposure? can you rule out by 4 gen test and fully move on an and have unprotected sex with someone you are intimate with? is there any medical condition that can affect the test or window perio?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

4th gen test at 3 months, if negative would essentially rule out HIV infection. NAT HIV test at 6 months after exposure would provide additional assurance. Get HPV and Covid vaccines.
