How long one is supposed to take 40mg febuxostat to keep uric acid levels below 6?? mine usually increases again after 1.5 months, i dont suffer from gout but i have stiffness in my right foot joints accompanied with burning sensation in thumb joint?

If you have to use febuxostat for controlling high uric acid level you have to continue for the rest of your life unless you are able to keep uric acid intake to a minimum which is not easy. The medication probably has full effect after 2-3 weeks of taking it. If uric acid is not lower than 6 after 2-3 weeks, dose needs to be doubled.
