You can ask for anything you desire, regardless the reason you were on it. Docs are accustomed to some patients sharing meds or self medicating in other ways. Just be honest with your doc & they can work with you to decide if it is appropriate to use at a certain time. Be aware there are many states/the feds/ that monitor certain pain meds closely.

Asking for a specific drug is always assimilated to drug seeking behavior. You should only discuss details of your symptoms, previous meds tried and so on. Let the doc make an attempt to diagnose first your condition before treating it.

You may ask, however, if the drug is a narcotic, or a controlled substance, be prepared to be suspected of drug seeking. You may explore alternative forms of pain relief. Regular aerobic exercise may help with pain relief. Wish you good health!
