A 30-year-old male asked:
a pharmacy dispensed the correct medication form, but bottle mislabeled for a different type of the same medication & instructions other than what my doctor prescribed, also billed insurance for it?

I would: take the bottle of pills back to the pharmacy and show them what happened. They have on file your doctors prescription and should be able to correct the billing mistake. Thank goodness you got the right medication. The importance of this from my perspective is learning, so that they can tighten up their processes. Some pharmacists will be glad and helpful some will be?

A 50-year-old member asked:
Are osteopathic doctors covered the same ways mds are by my insurance plan?

Yes: Osteopathic physicians are licensed to practice medicine the same way that md's are licensed and have the same coverage by insurances just as any other physician. However, most do's under insurance plans are usually board certified and i would look to this as a qualification as well.

A 47-year-old female asked:
Are medicines from national drug store the same as those sent from mail order pharmacy recommended by insurance company?

GENERIC DRUGS: Pharmaceuticals are big business. Insurance companies want to pay as little as possible for your prescribed drugs and, often times, mandate, that the physician substitute what we order. This isn't always in your best interest. Some of the mail order drugs are generics and could be the same as generics in the pharmacy. Ask your healthcare provdier.

A 29-year-old male asked:
Do chain pharmacies bill people without insurance more for the same drug than they charge the insurance companies of people with it? Do they negotiate with insurers this way, the same way doctors do?

Insurances: Sometimes that may be the case. It is unfortunate how insurances and manufacturers manage health issues with a market mentality; their focus is not always health care, but plain business. However that is how the system is structured, and every dr wish every patient could afford all necessary medication. Cost is a factor, we often need to adjust, use generic or alternatives our patients can afford.
