I need help! my dad seems to have this cough for what seems like weeks now and is not getting any better, even after being prescribed medications by his local doctor it still hasnt worked, and its a severe type of cough where he can't stop and not enough

When : When a cough lasts for a long period of time, despite getting antibiotics, it's often useful to get a chest x-ray. It may be that he has a blockage of some type that is keeping an area of his lungs from responding to therapy.

Chronic cough....: Possible etiologies of a chronic cough include bronchospasm from any cause (COPD, asthma, CHF, etc.)GERD, post-nasal drip, etc. Before a cough like this can be treated, it must first be diagnosed because each of these possibilities has an entirely different treatment. If your dad is smoking, he needs to quit ASAP to decrease airway inflammation. A lung doctor can help with diagnosis and treatment.
