A member asked:

Had c4/c5 fusion in may w/mri that showed myelopathy (w/prior c5-c7 ant. fusions/post. decompression/fusions), recent mri shows 2 fcl point post-surg myelomalacia. can this be reversed/what can i expect going forward? numbness/dropping things remain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unfortunately, the myelomalcia findings are permanent and represent signs of chronic injury. This is unlikely to worsen. The numbness/ dropping items can be managed by a course of hand therapy and adaptive devices, so things can indeed be improved. If specific severity questions need answers, a careful EMG/ NCS could point the way for rehab focus.
