Healing begins in a few days. Full healing can last 2-3 years (or longer). PT/OT “nice” but doesn’t fundamentally affect wound healing.

The femoral nerve sits adjacent to the femoral artery in this region. Blood and inflammation during surgery ultimately lead to scarring in the region that takes 3-6 months to mature. When the non-elastic, non mobile scar gets tugged at, it pulls on the femoral nerve producing pain. Over time the scar tissue will become stretched out and mobile resulting in less pain over time.
