A member asked:

Fluid pocket in pelvis/lower abdmn. excessive nausea since surgery despite being nearly a month post (gynecological) any ideas ? seeing surgeon soon

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fluid pocket:abdomen: Nausea post gyn surgery and a "fluid pocket" usually means an abscess with peritoneal irritation secondary to the abscess (inflammation). If accessible, an option instead of an exploratory laparotomy ( opening the abdomen via an incision) by placing a catheter in the "fluid pocket" can often avoid complications. Ask the surgeon if this might be possible.
