Commonest reason for ridges on nails is nutritional deficiency syndrome, especially vitamin B-Complex deficiencies. If alcohol is not an issue for liver disease other causes could be thyroid and trauma. So a visit to PCP for comprehensive evaluation and Lab investigation. The 'gastritis' itself suggest one should review their foods, drinks and medications & OTC analgesics like the NSAIDS.
