A member asked:

I have epiploic appendagitis and do you need to be on anabiotics for this to resolve the issue ive had it now for for five days and it seems only a little bit better? i want to know does one have to be on meds, and just got over diverticulitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Epiploic appendagitis is not treated with antibiotics, usually it requires only anti-inflammatories like Ibuprofen. of course we are assuming this is the correct diagnosis as it can be easily differentiated from diverticulitis on a CT. It takes a few days to resolve. It can be present at the same time with diverticulitis which requires antibiotics. If pain is persistent reevaluation is needed.
