I cut my neck recently with broken glass. it was only scratches, nothing deep. it now looks red and splotchy on and around the cuts, and one part of a scratch hurts very badly when touched. what could be the issue?

Infection/cutting a nerve ending/etc. If it is red & splotchy I would consider infection a possibility, since a broken skin barrier can allow germs to enter. Tetanus is even a possibility with any cut. Monitor this closely & get evaluated if it continues to hurt/swell/extend the redness.

Apply triple antibiotic ointment to any raw areas. If you get fever, develop a purulent discharge of have enlarged nodes in the neck, see a doctor at the earliest. Wish you good health!
