A member asked:

I had a ct scan recently (felt it was unnecessary & didnt know about the radiation risks), and now i am having terrible anxiety/panic attacks about increased cancer risk. is this irrational thinking? im really struggling?

A CT scan will not raise you risk for cancer over your baseline. You can reduce your risk of cancer by adopting healthy habits: Eat a mostly vegetarian diet, avoid alcohol, tobacco and street drugs, avoid excessive exposure to sun, get HPV vaccine, exercise 30 minutes each day, drink enough water so your urine is mostly colorless.

Modern CAT scans will provide NO significant radiation risk! The “anxiety/ panic attacks need to be handled. Cognitive behavioral therapy or biofeedback therapy can be very helpful
