Had a sinus ct scan for a deviated septum/chronic sinusitis. now i'm worried about cancer from the radiation. is it unlikely?

That is so silly: One ct scan does not cause cancer. It has such small maount of radiation that you have to have dozers or more ct scans of the whole body before this type of thought should come to your and my mind. So quit worrying and start engaging your mind in something more productive and be more hopeful...Go for a daily walk...That can do wonders to relive anxiety like you have.

CT radiation concern: Hello, most patients who have chronic or recurrent acute sinusitis that do not respond to medical therapy will need additional diagnostic testing to determine a reason and thus a solution for the sinus ailment. This may include an endoscopy to visualize intranasal deformities or a ct radio graphic image. The ct technology has evolved to provide detailed information with little radiation exposure.

Very unlikely: While many studies have recently been published about radiation exposure & risk for cancer, the main concern is from repeated x-rays, not the occasional one. The media has also pointed out that it's important to go to reputable facilities that check their equipment regularly to insure appropriate dose is used. But in general, your risk for cancer from sinus ct scan is very unlikely.

Don't worry: It is highly unlikely to get cancer from a ct scan otherwise they wouldn't be doing them on anyone.
