Keratoconus occurs every 1 in 2000 persons. It is typically diagnosed in the late teen years. In Keratoconus, the cornea of the eye bulges outward in an irregular fashion. TIt is found more commonly in hot, dry areas and in persons with certain genetic conditions. Treatment begins with eyeglass or contact lens wearing, and may progress to the need for surgical intervention
