More than a third of people who come to a hospital have abnormal kappa lambda without any serious implications. If this is all that you are concerned about, do not worry. Your doctor can order a protein electrophoresis if there are other indications for the test. Wish you good health!

Agree with Dr Singh. You do not mention if you possess any neurological problems and the described results are frequent insignificant lab result variations of no clinical significance. Discuss at length with your doctor what next steps should be sought. As indicated, a protein electrophoresis or immuno-phoresis may provide illumination.

Serum free light chain test shows normal kappa (8.7mg/dl), low lambda (3.80), high kap/lam ratio (2.31). Serum $ urine electrophoresis show no monoclonal protein, nor does serum immunofixation. Likely MGUS, myeloma, or admyloidosis? CBC/met panel ok.
This is for my mother, aged 55. High serum kappas (33), normal lambdas and marginally high kappa lambda ratio (1.9). SPEP and Immunofixation show polyclonal gammopathy (in IgG Kappa and Lambda). Should we be concerned about MGUS/Myeloma ?

Apart from myeloma, can MGUS be found in urine only (UPEP) with a normal SPEP? Or does it always show in blood?
