Stenting a vessel is a 2 phase - first phase: doctor will dilate the vessel with a balloon first which is called angioplasty (venoplasty when the vein is dilated), second phase: doctor insert the stent at the dilated vessel. Venoplasty is only the first phase so it is quicker and safer than stenting. Without stenting the vein will recoil quicker but stenting has its clotting risk.
