A member asked:

My doctor has now instead offered a venoplasty dilation of transverse venous sinus, to assess the results before potential stents @ later date. is venoplasty less risky for death / bleeding than stent placement. during & after procedure?

Stenting a vessel is a 2 phase - first phase: doctor will dilate the vessel with a balloon first which is called angioplasty (venoplasty when the vein is dilated), second phase: doctor insert the stent at the dilated vessel. Venoplasty is only the first phase so it is quicker and safer than stenting. Without stenting the vein will recoil quicker but stenting has its clotting risk.
