Lymph nodes around the neck in children are very common and are generally speaking benign. Benign nodes are usually very slightly mobile (moveable) whereas malignant ones are matted down to surrounding tissue. If you continue to have concern don’t hesitate to seek opinions until your anxiety is allayed. The doctor’s job is to make sure you understand what’s going on with your child.

You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or he develops fever, or loses weight, you should see a doctor. Wish you and your son good health!
