A member asked:

Recent blood results came back that were confusing to me. my wbc is 2.5, rbc 2.9, hgb 11.3, platelets 111. but then it also has ovalocytes 1+, macrocytes 2+, dacryocyte 1+, myelocytes 1%, and occasional smudge cells. what does this mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, all of the cell types in your blood are low and suggest that bone marrow is not functioning fully. You ought to consult a hematologist. Wish you good health!
