I had laminectomy surgery a few years ago. all of a sudden i have a bulge and very sharp pains in the area of surgery. should i go to the er?

Suggest, first, contact your doctor and perhaps see today, as ER may not be the best choice, and your doctor can decide how aggressive to become, based upon your examination as compared to prior findings. Etiology of pain may not be due to prior surgery, and might be kidney stone, infection, etc. This requires diagnosis to move in effective direction.

Yes or contact the surgeon. It is possibly an infection at the site or a recurrence of the problem you had before surgery
