What causes hemoglobin and hematocrit to be low but mcv levels, iron, and ferritin levels are normal. been having this problem for 8mths no blood in stool. guaiac test was normal. bowel changes mostly soft stool w/ mucus. could this be colon cancer?

Chronic normochromic, normocytic anemia with normal iron parameters,normal Vit B12 levels and normal serum electrophoresis to rule out multiple myeloma can be caused by chronic inflammation. If you or your physician are still concerned, consult a hematologist for evaluation and advice.

Hemoglobin 11.6 (reference 12-16), hematocrit 36.8 (ref 37-47), rion 130 (ref 37-145), ferritin 14 (ref 13-150) - do these results indicate anemia? If so how much iron should I be taking? Other results like full blood count are within normal range.

My iron is 25 (27-159), ferritin 71 (15-150) , saturation 10% (15-55), hemoglobin 11.9 (11.1-15.9, hematocrit 37.5 (34-46.6), MCV 77 (79-97), MCH 24.5(26.6-33), MCHC 31.7 (31.5-35.7) & platelets 371 (150-379). Should I be concerned about any of this?
