In a vasectomy, the tube that carries the sperm is cut and each end is tied off. There are reports of cases where the tube ends have healed and reconnected. It takes 8 weeks for the healing to be complete and that is why the Urologist will not test you prior to this. You are not completely "safe" until the final test at 8 weeks. Use other forms of contraception including a condom/spermicides.
