The lower left side of the abdomen contains Large intestine and Colon. Swelling and pain could be caused by constipation, Irritable bowel disease, gastroenteritis (infection) or Diverticulitis. Most symptoms in this area are short lived and will go away in a few days. If the pain persists, please contact your DR or a full exam.
