A member asked:

Does consuming olive oil good for gout, and does it really help to reduce uric acid levels in the body, or still, there is no evidence of olive oil's effectiveness in whether reducing or increasing uric acid?

Olive oil is sometimes used to treat gout because of its so called antiinflammatory effect. Remember, gout attack is usually self limited so people may mistake olive oil can be helpful in treating gout. Olive oil does not affect uric acid level per my knowledge. My advice: reduce uric acid intake, use proven med to lower uric acid, use Colchicine + antiflammatory drug(s) to treat acute gout.
