A member asked:

Can a gout patient with uric acid level 5.8 eat tomato??and what all food items do you suggest??and what about chicken and fish, tea and coffee,etc..

Gout and diet: No particular food is prohibited with gout. Quantity and frequency matter. Be modest with all meat sources. Keep portions small. Minimize red meats and organ meats. Maximize fruit, veggies, and whole grains. Drink plenty of fluid daily. Avoid alcohol. Tomato is fine. Uric acid comes principally from meat sources.
