What would cause low ferritin (13 last yr, now 9) if RBC indices are normal & so is iron panel? Thyroid ok. I take IM B12 for pernicious anemia. 28f
45y premenopausal female, iron 190, TIBC 250, TSAT 76%, ferritin 65, RBC 3.6, Hgb 11.8, Hct 34%, MCV 95. Neg HFE, normal B12. Symptoms include fatigue, body aches, joint pain. Is it anemia or iron overload? Can you have both at the same time?
Is iron supplementation ever warranted if ferritin is somewhat low? 30 ng/mL(ref 6-137). No anemia, normal CBC. I know GP needs to guide meds, but curious if low ferritin can cause symptoms. Can B12 injections for def. use up iron stores?
My Dr told me I have anemia (which can happen with my cancer) My iron test is normal but my ferritin is off the chart (5189) So, iron won't help me right? What will?
