A member asked:

If im very late taking my dose of propranolol in the morning, i get very breathless. is this a symptom of propranolol withdrawal, or is it more likely i have another condition that is being alleviated by taking propranolol. i only take it for anxiety?

I'm not a fan of treating anxiety with propranolol ( a beta bloc.ker). It does calm tremulousness. Are experiencing palpitations? If you're experiencing shortness of breath while at rest but not with exertion, this favors anxiety as the cause rather than withdrawal, asthma, etc. Have you considered stress management coaching?

Propranolol withdrawal may take 1-2 days to manifest and depends on whether you are taking the long acting or short acting preparation. I am not sure that breathlessness is a symptom of withdrawal. I am not certain that I can attribute breathlessness to withdrawal in such a short time. Also, I would expect palpitation and an increase in the blood pressure to be more prominent.
