A member asked:

I had a vp shunt placed over a week ago for hydrocephalus and it still hurts to put any pressure on my head why? is there still pressure inside?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hydrocephalus does not cause pain or tenderness on touch or pressure on head. Hence it's related to procedure such as inflammation of the aponeurosis. The inflammation could be due to infection which is less likely or allergic reaction to the shunt. Request you surgeon to see you and if no infection he Will guide you for the anti-inflammatory therapy on a short term basis.
