A member asked:

Had hydrocephalus but shunted so why the enlarged head?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Already formed: When the head is forming and the sutures of the skull are not fused- and hydrocephalus ensues, the head will be large as they may not return to the normal location. Shunting simply keeps the internal pressure of the brain down by taking off excess spinal fluid.
