I've been given the choice of taking either 32 mg methylprednisolone at 12 and 2 hours or prednisolone 50mg at 13, 7, and 1 hr pre mri for a contrast allergy. is there a significant difference in half-life and elimination?

No - both drugs have similar half-lives and elimination times and work the same way. So why the difference? It’s likely due to protocols that have been developed and worked in past and little more. It’s truly a personal preference decision that may be affected by the convenience and timing of dosing of each regimen.
