A member asked:

3 years in menopause, been experiencing light amounts of yellowish vaginal discharge with no other symptoms, not every day, maybe 10 times in past 6 weeks, and very small amount each time, what could this be? do i need a biopsy, very worried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

As you enter the time of your menopause, the level of estrogen is markedly lower in your body and thus, the lack of stimulation to the lining of the vagina is less. This causes thinning of the vaginal wall and irritation which can result in a mild discharge and irritation. Your women's health provider can help with this diagnosis by an in-office exam.
