A member asked:

Found a dead fruit fly stuck right below the cap of a spring water bottle. if the water bottle was tightly closed or sealed (unopened), can the dead fly contaminate the water in the bottle? i transferred the water from this bottle to another bottle?

It sounds like you did the right thing to avoid touching the area the dead fly occupied and contaminated when you drank out of the bottle.

The fly cannot contaminate the water inside the bottle, only conceivably the external side of the bottle, that’s why transferring the water in a different bottle was wise.
