A member asked:

Could having severe surgical necrotic enterocolitis as a toddler cause unexplained lymphadenopathy later in adulthood?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I would not accept that as the cause. The lymph nodes are serum strainers designed to sift the lymph to remove debris and germs. Their enlargement suggests they have been activated by an infectious process. I can see the cited condition producing mechanical digestive problems but not an infectious one.
