Documented PCOS is treated with oral contraceptives to avoid constant estrogen production without ovulation. Use of oral bcp's requires taking the active pills within the hour of the previous day's active pill, or breakthrough bleeding may occur, with commensurate "period-like" bleeding possible. This is not a sign of uterine/ovarian or cervical cancer.
