Inguinal hernias are not necessarily dangerous. The severity depends on how big the defect in the abdominal wall is. If large defect, your intestines can slide down into the hernia region and become trapped, potentially creating a life threatening situation. If small, your Dr may choose to just watch and wait. Make sure you are being examined, imaged and followed by a Dr at least every 6 months.
