30 years ago, my son had double inguinal hernia surgery with mesh, he was 4 years old. over the years, the left side bothers him from time to time, he gets a dull ache in the area, lasts a while then gets better, what is this from? is this a concern?

It is extremely surprising that a mesh was used for repair at that age, Generally not used in persons before puberty. Best is that he see a heneral surgeon to see if the symptoms are related to the mesh or are from another reason.
