A "high resolution CT" (HRCT) score of "8 out of 25" measures pulmonary fibrosis and usually includes a diffusion test for carbon monoxide to predict lung function. Steroids are given presumptively to reduce inflammation and with COVID-19 may assist with prognosis for respiratory compromise.

A measurement of airflow may include pulmonary function testing and follow up with your PCP. If you experience pulmonary symptoms, a repeat imaging study may be ordered and a Pulmonary consult scheduled. Steroid treatment may reduce inflammatory changes in the lung during COVID 19 infection.
