A member asked:

I have moderate vision loss from optic neuritis and am taking steroids. does my condition and my treatment put me at higher risk for covid-19?

Depends: While steroids in general could reduce the immune system, the amount and duration you are using for your eyes probably does not place you at higher risk; however, ask your prescriber who will know the correct answer. Regardless, wearing a mask, maintaining social distances, gloves/hand washing and avoiding crowded venues will help protect you. Good luck

Yes: People who are on chronic corticosteroid treatment are at slightly higher risk of contracting COVID if exposed. In addition, those on steroid who contract COVID have a slightly higher risk of their COVID being more serious.
