A member asked:

Is 12.5 mm volume ovary normal for postmenopausal woman? transabdominal us states negative pelvic exam?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

An ultrasound estimate of ovarian volume of "12.5 mm" is consistent with the post-menopausal condition. Transabdominal ultrasound may not show to the technician's satisfaction the actual location of the ovary, and measurements are not possilble. What the transabdominal U/S does theoretically rule out is ovarian enlargement which might indicate possible malignancy.
