How long after ankle fracture will the ankle continue to swell when on feet?

Indefinitely depending on preexistent circulation issues and overall damage to the ankle, hardware used, etc, the affected ankle will remain prone to swelling and among all activities seating will be the worst in causing swelling, unless you are able to keep it elevated.
