A member asked:

I fractured 4 metatarsals 2 months ago and my ankle and foot are still swelled. is this normal and what can i do to treat it.?

I would have : The foot re xrayed and see how the metatarsals look. I would consider an elastic ankle support for the ankle swelling. 4 metatarsals at one time is a lot of bones to break so some residual swelling at 2 months is not that uncommon. You do not state what treatment has been used. I.E if your walking on it etc.

Yes: Swelling can be present for many months: even after bone heals. Physical therapy and compression will be helpful. Consult with your doctor.
