I woke up and accidentally inhaled a good chunk of my saliva and i would violently cough for a good minute, but i would still cough very often afterwards becuase it feels like it's in my lungs?

If there was no food or other substance in your mouth, this is likely to resolve within one day. If it worsens or persists, an evaluation and consideration of other causes is suggested. Drink soothing liquids and rest your voice for a few days after checking with your Pediatrician.

Relatively common, cough may linger due to inflammation following aspiration of saliva and possibly food particles. If symptoms persist see your doc as infrequently it may result in a pneumonitis if a foreign body gets lodged in the lower airways.
